1988 Chevrolet C2500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1988 Chevrolet C2500 spans four engines that have little in common beyond their overhead-valve layout: a 4.3L V6, the 5.0L and 5.7L gasoline V8s, and a 6.2L diesel V8. Two cab configurations are covered, standard and extended, across Base, Cheyenne, Scottsdale and Silverado trim. A pickup like this gets bought for work, so the driveline, brake, suspension and charging sections are written to be used on a truck that is still earning.

Known issues on the 1988 C2500. Two recalls are on the federal record, and both trace back to replacement parts rather than to the truck as built. One covers a gasoline filter that may not seal at its connection, letting fuel weep out where an ignition source can find it. The other covers an oil filter that can seal badly and lose engine oil, again with fire as the outcome. One owner complaint stands for the year, on tires. Fuel line routing, sealing specifications and torque values are given here, as are wheel and hub procedures.
