Known issues on the 1990 Lumina. Eight recalls sit on the federal record for this year. In one, front shoulder belt webbing can separate at the upper guide loop with no warning, leaving a belted occupant unrestrained in a heavy crash. In another, cracks spread across a wheel's mounting surface until the wheel parts from the car, taking steering and braking with it. A third is corrosion at the cradle bolt retainers: if the bolts pull through, the front cradle loses its support and the steering intermediate shaft can separate from the gear.
