1989 Chevrolet G20 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1989 Chevrolet G20 works through four naturally aspirated overhead-valve engines, a 4.3L V6 of 262 cubic inches, a 5.0L V8 of 305, a 5.7L V8 of 350 and a 6.2L diesel V8 of 379, as installed in three bodies: the extended passenger van and the standard and extended cargo vans. Beauville, Chevy and Sportvan are the trims. Each engine has its own clearances and torque figures, and the manual keeps them separate rather than averaging them into one table.

Known issues on the 1989 G20. Three recalls are recorded for this year. The rear bench seat back can break away from its cushion in a collision, leaving whoever sits there far less protected. The other two involve replacement filters: a fuel filter that seals poorly and can leak gasoline toward an ignition source, and an oil filter that can let the engine lose its oil and start a fire. Seven complaints are on record, two of them on engine and engine cooling, with the speed control and the seat belts each drawing one. Seat mounting, fuel line and cooling procedures are set out here.
