1988 Chevrolet G20 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1988 Chevrolet G20 documents a van built in three shapes and three trims but with four different engines bolted into it: the 4.3L V6 of 262 cubic inches, the 5.0L V8 of 305, the 5.7L V8 of 350 and the 6.2L diesel V8 of 379, every one overhead-valve and naturally aspirated. Extended passenger van, standard cargo van and extended cargo van are the bodies; Beauville, Chevy and Sportvan the trims. Specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are organized by system across all of them.

Known issues on the 1988 G20. Two recalls are on the federal record for this year, both traced to replacement filters rather than the van as built. One covers fuel filters that can fail to seal at the connection and leak gasoline that may find an ignition source; the other covers oil filters that seal badly enough to let the engine lose its oil and catch fire. The eleven complaints from owners tilt toward engine and engine cooling with four, then single reports on the service brakes and the suspension. Cooling diagnostics, fuel line service and brake specifications all live in this manual.
