Known issues on the 2021 Q7. Nine recalls are on federal record for this model year. Rear seat belt automatic locking retractors may deactivate early, preventing a child restraint system from securing properly. Rear axle alignment following an earlier suspension repair may not have been inspected, leading to premature or uneven tire wear. A door crash sensor connector can detach, delaying side air bag and seat-belt pretensioner activation in a side impact. A trailing arm lock nut on the rear axle may break from stress corrosion, causing misalignment and loss of control. The front passenger air bag control module may fire its second stage too quickly when an unbelted child occupies the seat. A fuel pump component may break internally and cause the pump to fail, leading to an engine stall. A software issue can leave the rearview camera display blank when reverse is engaged. A software error may also cause the instrument panel display to fail, hiding the speedometer and warning lights. A separate rearview camera fault can likewise prevent the backup image from displaying. Owners have filed 70 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged.
