Known issues on the 2017 Q7. Seven recalls are on federal record for this model year. Fuel rails on the left and right side can leak fuel in the presence of an ignition source, increasing the risk of a fire. Third-row seat backs may move forward under load in a frontal collision instead of remaining in their adjusted position, increasing the risk of injury to an occupant in a crash. If the air bags and/or seat belt pretensioners do not inflate or function properly in a crash, occupants have an increased risk of injury. The electric power steering assist control unit can short circuit, causing a loss of power steering assist and requiring extra steering effort, especially at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a crash. A software issue can leave the side marker lights inoperative, making the vehicle less visible at night and increasing the risk of a crash. A separate air bag control module software issue can cause the frontal air bags to deploy with excessive force, increasing the risk of injury. And the bolt connecting the steering shaft to the steering gear may loosen, which can result in a sudden loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash. Owners have filed 317 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged.
