Known issues on the 2018 A3. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the passenger occupant classification sensor: the passenger occupant detection system can malfunction and switch off the passenger air bag even when the seat is occupied, increasing the risk of injury during a crash. The second covers the fuel system: a suction jet pump seal inside the fuel tank can allow fuel into the evaporative emissions system and leak out of the charcoal canister, and a fuel leak near an ignition source increases the risk of fire. Owners have filed 44 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From a passenger air bag check to a fuel tank and EVAP system inspection, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2018 A3.
