Known issues on the 2010 A3. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. Two separate campaigns cover the driver's frontal air bag inflator module, where excessive internal pressure in a crash can cause the inflator to rupture or explode, sending metal fragments toward the occupants. Another covers the diesel fuel system, where injector line number 2 can develop small cracks from a resonance condition, leading to a fuel leak that can ignite. A fourth covers the gasoline fuel tank assembly, where an internal spring in the tank ventilation valve isn't strong enough to hold the valve closed under extreme driving, allowing fuel to leak. A fifth covers the automatic transmission, where insufficiently crimped wiring on a gearbox temperature sensor can falsely trigger an abrupt shift to neutral without warning.
