Known issues on the 2007 A3. Three recalls are on federal record for this model year, all tied to safety-critical systems. Two separate recalls cover the driver's frontal air bag inflator module: excessive internal pressure can cause the inflator to rupture or explode, sending metal fragments toward the driver or other occupants in a crash. A third recall covers the fuel tank ventilation valve, where a weak internal spring can fail to hold the valve closed under extreme driving conditions, allowing fuel to leak in the presence of an ignition source.
