Known issues on the 2011 A3. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. Three cover the driver's frontal air bag inflator module: excessive internal pressure, including degradation from long-term heat and humidity exposure, can cause the inflator to rupture or explode, sending metal fragments toward the driver or other occupants. The fourth covers the diesel fuel system on TDI models, where injector line number 2 can develop small cracks from resonance stress, leading to fuel leakage that can ignite in the presence of an ignition source. Owners have filed 42 complaints for the year and no technical service bulletins are logged for it. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From an air bag inflator inspection to chasing a fuel leak on the TDI's injector lines, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2011 A3.
