Known issues on the 2012 300. Nine recalls sit on the federal record for the 2012 300. Certain cars built within a set window with the eight-speed automatic and monostable shifter might not warn a driver who opened the door while out of park, so the car could roll; dealers updated software. Certain cars with electro-hydraulic steering, a 5.7L or 3.6L engine and an alternator of 160, 180 or 220 amps could lose that alternator suddenly, stalling or shorting. A frontal air bag inflator in certain cars could over-pressurize and burst, and owners were told not to drive until fixed. There are 440 complaints, 219 on the electrical system; 24 reported a crash, 36 a fire, 11 an injury and 1 a death.
