Known issues on the 2009 Cooper. NHTSA lists 5 recalls against the 2009 Cooper. Certain John Cooper Works and John Cooper Works Clubman versions left the line with front brake discs smaller than intended, so hard, repeated braking could fade; dealers inspect discs and pads and replace them where needed. A recall of 12 certain convertibles corrected wheels one size smaller than the tire label listed. On certain turbocharged cars built within a stated window, the auxiliary turbocharger coolant pump could overheat its circuit board and smolder.
