A replacement fuel pump module sold for these vans can send a false reading to the fuel gauge, showing 3/4 full to full regardless of actual level, so a driver can run out of fuel and stall. Separately, the factory fuel pump strainer cover can deteriorate and let fuel leak out, raising the risk of a fire. The gas-filled struts on power liftgate models can suffer an early manufacturing-flaw leak that lowers strut performance, letting the liftgate close unexpectedly and risk injury. And on a batch of 421 2009 Odysseys built with incorrect front brake hoses, the hose can contact the caliper bolt, wear a hole over time, and leak brake fluid until braking performance is reduced without warning to the driver.
