Known issues on the 2008 Odyssey. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. Two cover the fuel pump: a replacement fuel pump module can send a false full-tank reading and let the van run out of fuel and stall, and on original pumps the fuel pump strainer cover can deteriorate and leak fuel, raising the risk of a crash or a fire. A third covers the power liftgate struts, which can develop a manufacturing flaw that leaks their pressurized gas and leads to unexpected closure. A fourth covers the Vehicle Stability Assist software, which under certain conditions can apply the brakes hard and without warning the brake lights. The fifth covers the VSA modular pump, where air entering during the self-check after startup can accumulate over time and soften brake pedal feel. Owners have filed 499 complaints for the year.
