Known issues on the 2005 Odyssey. Nine recalls are on federal record for this model year. Three trace back to the fuel pump losing power or misreporting fuel level: an aftermarket replacement fuel pump can send a false full-tank reading and let the van run out of fuel and stall; a loose terminal in the main fuse box can cut power to the fuel pump and stall the engine without warning; and a coil wire inside the fuel pump relay can break, also cutting power to the pump and stalling the engine without warning. A separate recall covers the factory fuel pump strainer cover, which can deteriorate and leak fuel, raising fire risk. The brake master cylinder seal can dry out and leak fluid if the wrong replacement brake fluid is used, degrading pedal feel and braking performance over time, and rear ABS wheel speed sensors installed incorrectly can report the wrong wheel speed and reduce brake force. The steering column can be incorrectly assembled, risking a sudden loss of steering control, and the power liftgate's gas struts can wear out early and let the liftgate close unexpectedly on someone in its path. A frontal airbag impact sensor can corrode from water intrusion and fail to deploy the airbag correctly in a crash. Owners have filed 829 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged for it.
