Known issues on the 2009 TT. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the automatic transmission: a temperature sensor in the Direct Shift Gearbox wiring harness can have insufficiently crimped connector wires, which can falsely register a high gearbox oil temperature and cause the transmission to abruptly shift to neutral, which could lead to a crash without warning. The second covers the fuel tank assembly: the internal spring in the fuel tank ventilation valve may not hold the valve closed under extreme driving conditions, allowing fuel to leak, and in the presence of an ignition source a vehicle fire could occur. Remedy
