The first covers Gates Tru-Flow water pumps sold as service replacements: a failed timing belt driven by these pumps can cause the engine to shut down, increasing the risk of a crash. The second covers certain Cardone master cylinders sold as replacement equipment, where a failed seal can leak brake fluid and result in poor braking performance. Owners have filed 38 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged. Consequence
A failure of the timing belt may cause the engine to shut down, potentially increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Remedy
Gates will notify owners, and dealers will replace the water pump, free of charge. The recall began during May 2014. Owners may contact The Gates Corporation at 1-303-744-1911.

Consequence
LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID CAN RESULT IN POOR BRAKING PERFORMANCE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy
