1997 Isuzu N-Series Service and Repair Manual

Isuzu's 1997 N-Series cab-overs remained the familiar low-cab-forward NPR and Class 4 NPR HD, still offered with the 3.9-liter 4BD2-TC turbodiesel or a 5.7-liter V8 gasoline engine. The diesel uses an indirect-injection design with solid lifters, while the gas trucks were assembled in the US with GM powertrains, and service intervals and specifications differ accordingly. This service and repair manual is written for 1997 trucks, with procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams, diagnostics and maintenance schedules for brakes, steering, cab, chassis and both engines.

Known issues on the 1997 N-Series. One recall is on federal record: front axle brake hoses were damaged while the axle assembly was transported with the hoses attached, which can leak brake fluid, reduce braking effectiveness and lengthen stopping distances. NHTSA also logs five owner complaints, most often about tires, with others on structure and the hydraulic service brakes.
