1997 Chevrolet C1500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1997 Chevrolet C1500 is a five-engine, four-trim book covering three cab arrangements: standard, two-door extended and three-door extended. The engines run from the 4.1L inline-six of 250 cubic inches and the 4.3L V6 of 262 through the 5.0L and 5.7L V8s to the turbocharged 6.5L diesel V8 of 395 cubic inches, the only forced-induction engine of the group. Base, Cheyenne, Silverado and WT are the trims, and the specifications, torque values and diagnostics are keyed to the combination in front of you.

Known issues on the 1997 C1500. No recalls have been issued for this year and no owner complaints appear on the federal record, so there is no known-fault list to work through. The manual is the substitute, and it is thorough where it counts on a truck of this age: compression and clearance specifications, fuel and injection testing for both engine families, transmission and rear axle overhaul, brake hydraulic bleeding and lining limits, steering and front suspension alignment values, and wiring diagrams with diagnostics for each circuit.
