1988 Chevrolet C1500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1988 Chevrolet C1500 covers two cab lengths and four engines. The cabs are the two-door standard and the two-door extended pickup; the engines are the 4.3L V6 of 262 cubic inches, the 5.0L and 5.7L V8s of 305 and 350, and the 6.2L diesel V8 of 379, all naturally aspirated with overhead valves. Cheyenne, Scottsdale and Silverado are the trims. The longer cab changes body, glass and wiring runs, and those differences are drawn out rather than left for the reader to assume.

Known issues on the 1988 C1500. The federal record holds two recalls for this year, both traced to replacement filters rather than to the truck as delivered. One involves a fuel filter that can seal poorly at its connection and leak fuel, which near an ignition source means fire; the other an oil filter that can seal inadequately and lose engine oil, again with fire the stated consequence. Thirty-six complaints follow, led by service brakes with thirteen, then seat belts with five and the engine and cooling system with three, all systems specified here.
