Known issues on the 1993 K1500. Two recalls are on the books for this year. The first concerns replacement oil filters whose sealing can fail, draining oil from a running engine and creating a fire hazard. The second involves transmission fluid forced out of the vent tube by heat the design did not anticipate, which can burn if it reaches an ignition source. Twelve owner complaints are logged with NHTSA, with seats, visibility and the service brakes each drawing two. Transmission overhaul, brake service, wiper and lighting circuits, and seat hardware procedures are all documented here with their torque values.

Consequence
THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE INADEQUATE SEALING AND LOSS OF ENGINE OIL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A FIRE.
Remedy
HONEYWELL WILL REPLACE THE AFFECTED OIL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN DURING NOVEMBER 20
UNANTICIPATED HEAT IN THE TRANSMISSION CAN FORCE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID OUT OF THE VENT TUBE.
Consequence
THE VENTED TRANSMISSION FLUID CAN CATCH FIRE IF EXPOSEDTO A SOURCE OF IGNITION.
Remedy
INSTALL A LONGER TRANSMISSION VENT HOSE ROUTED TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEH
