1992 GMC K1500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1992 GMC K1500 addresses standard cab and extended cab pickups wearing the Sierra, Sierra SLE and Sierra SLX badges. Known issues on the 1992 K1500. Two recalls are on the federal record for this year, both of them fire risks. Replacement oil filters can fail to seal against the block, letting a running engine lose its oil onto hot metal below. Separately, heat building in the transmission beyond what was expected can push fluid out of the vent tube, where an ignition source will light it. Five owner complaints are logged with NHTSA, three of them on the electrical system and one each on visibility and the service brakes. Wiring diagrams, transmission service and lubrication procedures cover all of that ground.
