This factory service and repair manual for the 1992 Ford F-350 treats the one-ton truck as one machine in many shapes: two-door standard and extended cab pickups, a four-door crew cab and a cab and chassis, sold as Base, Custom, XL and XLT Lariat. Five engines are listed against those bodies, four of them gasoline, the 4.9L inline-six and the 5.0L, 5.8L and 7.5L V8s, and one diesel, the 7.3L V8. The specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics follow the systems rather than the badge.

Known issues on the 1992 F-350. The federal record for this year lists seven recalls. One concerns dash panel sound insulation that could touch the exhaust manifold and start an engine compartment fire. Another concerns water entering the door latch release cable and freezing, so the latch would not work properly in cold weather. A third concerns the parking brake self-adjust pawl slipping over the ratchet teeth and leaving the brake unable to hold the truck. Owners have filed 61 complaints with NHTSA, split fairly evenly between engine cooling, service brakes and the fuel system.
