1990 Ford E-150 Econoline Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1990 Ford E-150 Econoline covers the standard and extended two-door cargo vans in Custom and XL trim. The choice of engine ran from the 4.9L overhead-valve inline-six of 300 cubic inches through the 5.0L overhead-valve V8 of 302 to the 5.8L overhead-valve V8 of 351, each naturally aspirated and burning gasoline. The manual keeps its procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics grouped by system, so the same book serves all three engines.

Known issues on the 1990 E-150 Econoline. Three recalls are on the federal record for the 1990 van. Two are fuel and driveline matters, a dual tank selector valve that could overflow fuel past the filler cap and a transmission park gear snap ring that could fracture, while the third covers seat belt anchorages that pulled through the floor under federal test loads. Owners have filed 15 complaints with NHTSA, weighted toward the fuel system, with wheels and service brakes behind it. Fuel storage, transmission and brake work all have procedures and torque values here.
THE DUAL FUEL TANK SELECTOR VALVE MAY MALFUNCTION AND CAUSE AN OVERFILL CONDITION IN ONE OF THE FUEL TANKS, RESULTING IN AN OVERFLOW OF FUEL PAST THE FILLER CAP.
UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, THE SNAP RING THAT LOCATES THE PARK GEAR ON THE OUTPUT SHAFT OF THE TRANSMISSION MAY FRACTURE.
SAFETY BELT ANCHORAGES DID NOT MEET LOAD REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS 210; BELT ANCHORAGE BAR PULLED THROUGH THE FLOOR OF VEHICLE WHEN SUBJECTED TO LOADS OF FMVSS 210 TEST.
