Known issues on the 1988 K3500. Three recalls appear on the federal record for this truck. One describes replacement fuel filters that can seal poorly where they connect, letting fuel leak toward an ignition source. Another covers replacement oil filters with the same weakness, where the loss is engine oil and the risk is again fire. The third is a transmission that can push fluid out of its vent tube when heat builds unexpectedly. NHTSA holds one owner complaint for the year, on seat belts. Fuel and transmission procedures and the restraint specifications answer to those.

THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE AN INADEQUATE SEAL AT THE CONNECTION, POTENTIALLY LEADING TO A FUEL LEAK. I
Remedy
HONEYWELL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE FUEL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOB
UNANTICIPATED HEAT IN THE TRANSMISSION CAN FORCE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID OUT OF THE VENT TUBE.
Consequence
THE VENTED TRANSMISSION FLUID CAN CATCH FIRE IF EXPOSEDTO A SOURCE OF IGNITION.
Remedy
INSTALL A LONGER TRANSMISSION VENT HOSE ROUTED TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEH
