2016 Volkswagen Tiguan Service and Repair Manual

Known issues on the 2016 Tiguan. Two recalls are recorded for the 2016 Tiguan. The air bag control unit in certain vehicles could contain a defective power supply capacitor, which might disable the air bags or set them off without a crash; dealers updated the unit and, where needed, replaced it. On certain Tiguans built from November 25, 2015 to January 28, 2016, vibration from a door closing could release the rear child locks, letting a child open a rear door from inside; dealers checked the locks and replaced them where needed. Owners filed 96 complaints, led by air bags (37), the electrical system (27) and steering (12); 4 reported a crash, 2 a fire and 3 an injury. Electrical and body wiring diagrams and diagnostics apply.
