Of the 5 recalls NHTSA holds for the 2016 Passat, one involves the fuel rail: certain 2016 Passat vehicles with the turbocharged engine, built within a set production window, could have the rail pull away from the cylinder head and leak fuel, and dealers replaced the heads. A sheared cam lobe could cost certain cars their brake vacuum pump and with it power assist. Certain internal-use cars were sold before anyone confirmed they met federal safety standards, and Volkswagen bought them back.
