Known issues on the 2008 Passat. The federal record holds 4 recalls for the 2008 Passat. On certain 2008 Passat vehicles, a break in power to the fuel pump's control module could stop the pump and stall the engine. Certain 2008 Passat vehicles with the turbocharged FSI ULEV II engine carried control software that could let idle speed climb on its own with the air conditioning running, surging the engine until the software was updated. On certain others, the driver's frontal air bag inflator could burst from excess pressure and scatter metal.
