Known issues on the 2013 XF. Twelve recalls are on federal record for this model year. On 2.0L GTDi cars, the underfloor fuel delivery lines may have insufficient clearance to the under shield and body and can chafe, possibly resulting in a fuel leak, and a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source raises the risk of a fire. Two separate campaigns cover the Charge Air Cooler hose, whose clamp may sit out of position and loose, allowing the hose to detach: if it detaches the engine may stall, and steering and brake assistance may be lost. Two more cover the modules that control the fuel pump, which may shut down and stop it pumping fuel, stalling the car and taking power-assisted braking and steering with it. Steering is called out twice again, once for the Front End Auxiliary Drive idler pulley retaining bolt, which may fail and cost power steering assist, and once for a component within the Power Assist Steering system that may collapse and restrict fluid flow within the hose, increasing the steering effort needed. The right-hand rear brake pipe may wear against a bracket on the rear sub-frame until it wears through and leaks brake fluid, lengthening braking distance. Rear toe links can separate from the rear sub-frame, with a loss of vehicle stability and directional control. Two passenger-side frontal air bag inflator recalls apply by region of original sale or registration, where an inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants. The twelfth is a paperwork defect: cars built between March 26 and April 10, 2013 left the factory without the certification label that specifies the weight ratings, manufacture date and country of manufacture, so the vehicle can be overloaded. Owners have logged 34 complaints for the year.
