Known issues on the 2011 3500. A tie rod failure is among the 5 recalls on the 2011 3500. Certain four-wheel-drive trucks and certain two-wheel-drive cab and chassis trucks, built within a set production window, could have the left tie rod ball stud break, typically in slow, tight parking maneuvers, costing steering control at that wheel; the fix was, where needed, a new left outer tie rod and a toe alignment. On certain diesel trucks from another build window, the fuel heater connectors could overheat and allow a fuel leak.
