2011 BMW X5 Service and Repair Manual

Reading it by application matters here, because a 35d and a 50i share a body and a chassis but almost nothing in fuel delivery, boost control or engine tightening specifications.

Known issues on the 2011 X5. Fourteen recalls are on record. Two concern the front driveshaft universal joint, which can let water and debris in, wear, and fail so the front wheels are no longer driven. Others cover an auxiliary water pump circuit board that can overheat into a fire, camshaft timing unit bolts that can break and stall the engine, a fuel pump connector that can melt and leak, and a crankcase ventilation heater that can short. Complaints reach 307, with 82 on the engine, 63 on air bags and 49 on the power train.
