Known issues on the 2010 Wrangler. Nine recalls are on federal record for this model year: a floor liner that can shift forward and impede the accelerator, a defective passenger-side frontal air bag inflator, an automatic-transmission fault in which debris can ignite without warning and cause a vehicle fire, a driver-side frontal air bag circuit failure that can keep the air bag from deploying, a brake master cylinder that can lose brake fluid and reduce braking performance, a broken airbag clockspring circuit, a brake-fluid leak that can cause partial loss of braking at the affected wheel, a broken clockspring wiring circuit that can lead to air bag non-deployment, and an axle-assembly fault that can cause noise and degrade steering and handling. Owners have reported 898 complaints and Jeep has issued 54 technical service bulletins for the year.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2010 Dodge Ram 3500, Ram 4500/5500, 2010-2011 Dodge Dakota, 2010-2014 Dodge Challenger, 2010-2015 Dodge Challenger, Chrysler 300, and 2010-2016 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode.
Consequence
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could explode with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began February 4, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V01.

Consequence
An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Jeep Wrangler JK vehicles manufactured March 2, 2006, to August 13, 2010. The clockspring assembly may become contaminated with dust and cause the air bag circuit to fail.
Consequence
Failure of the air bag circuit may prevent the driver's frontal air bag from deploying in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the clockspring, wheel back cover, and column shroud, free of charge. The recall began on December 14, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S33.

Consequence
These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. These inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling. An inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Chrysler will notify the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM owners. Mitsubishi owners will be notified by their company. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Quadratec, Inc. is recalling certain aftermarket accessory, driver-side, Ultimate Floor Liners part numbers 14254.0301 07, 14254.0301 08, 14254.0301Q, 14254.0302 07, 14254.0302 08, 14254.0302Q, 14254.0303 07, 14254.0303 08, 14254.0303Q, 14254.0309 07, 14254.0309 08, and 14254.0309Q sold from May 1, 2012, through February 14, 2013. The liners are for use in 2007-2013 Jeep Wranglers. The anchor point for the affected floor liners may tear during use, particularly when exposed to high temperatures. The tearing may allow the floor liner to shift forward.
Consequence
If the liner shifts forward it may impede the operation of the accelerator and possibly lead to unintended acceleration, which may increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Quadratec will notify owners and either exchange the liners or provide them with a hook guard kit to help secure the driver-side mat, free of charge. The recall began on April 4, 2013. Owners may contact Quadratec at 1-800-463-2998 or info@quadratec.com.
CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2011 JEEP WRANGLER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 12, 2010, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 10, 2010. SOME VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE A DEGRADATION OF FASTENER TORQUE FOR VARIOUS FRONT AND REAR AXLE ATTACHMENTS TO THE CHASSIS MODULE.
Consequence
THIS COULD RESULT IN NOISE, OR ULTIMATELY, DEGRADATION IN STEERING AND HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS WHICH COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL RE-TORQUE ALL NINETEEN FASTENERS TO THE MAXIMUM RESIDUAL TORQUE VALUES. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 24, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2012 RIGHT HAND DRIVE (RHD) JEEP WRANGLER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM FEBRUARY 1, 2007, THROUGH OCTOBER 10, 2011. SOME VEHICLES MAY BE EQUIPPED WITH DRIVER'S AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLIES THAT COULD EXPERIENCE A COMPROMISED AIRBAG CIRCUIT RESULTING IN AN AIRBAG LAMP ILLUMINATION, WHICH INDICATES THAT THE AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY.
Consequence
A BROKEN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT IN THE AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING WIRING ASSEMBLY CAN LEAD TO NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER FRONTAL AIRBAG AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY PROTECT THE DRIVER IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURIES.
Remedy
CHRYSLER WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REMEDY THE VEHICLES AS NECESSARY FREE OF CHARGE. CHRYSLER WILL MAIL TO OWNERS AN INTERIM NOTIFICATION DURING MARCH 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 Jeep Wrangler right-hand drive vehicles manufactured February 1, 2007, through October 10, 2011. The affected vehicles have airbag clockspring assemblies that could experience broken airbag circuits.
Consequence
In the event of a crash necessitating airbag deployment, a broken electrical circuit in the airbag clockspring wiring assembly can lead to non-deployment of the driver-side frontal airbag and will not be able to properly protect the driver, increasing the risk of injuries.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the clockspring and add a steering wheel dust shield, free of charge. The recall began on June 10, 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. This recall supercedes NHTSA recall 11V-528. Chrysler's recall campaign number is M31.
CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 JEEP WRANGLER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION SKID PLATE, WHICH IS CLOSE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, CAN COLLECT DEBRIS.
Consequence
IF THIS OCCURS, THE DEBRIS CAN IGNITE WITHOUT WARNING, RESULTING IN A VEHICLE FIRE.
Remedy

Consequence
THIS COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND REDUCED BRAKING PERFORMANCE INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON 10-5-15 WHEN A DRUNK DRIVER PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME, I HAD NO TIME TO STOP BUT WHEN MY 2010 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED HIT THEIR VEHICLE, I IMMEDIATELY SMELLED AND SAW SMOKE COMMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF MY JEEP. I DROVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE I QUICKLY GOT OUT AND MADE IT JUST IN TIME BECAUSE THE VEHICLE QUICKLY BURST INTO FLAMES. MY AIRBAGS ALSO DID NOT DEPLOY WHICH I THOUGHT ODD BECAUSE I WAS TRAVELING AROUND 45 MPH AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, HE ATTEMPTED TO TURN LEFT WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL SNAPPED, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASH INTO A CONCRETE BARRIER. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES, AND TURNED INTO A DRIVEWAY. TRAVELING NO MORE THAN 10 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW. THE VEHICLE, A 2010 JEEP WRANGLER SUSTAINED $1500 DAMAGE WHEN THE BLOWOUT JERKED THE VEHICLE INTO A STONE WALL. 1) DOORS ARE SUPPOSED TO LOCK WHEN VEHICLE GETS TO A CERTAIN SPEED BUT THE DRIVER SIDE NO LONGER LOCKS AUTOMATICALLY. 2) WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, THE AUTOMATIC GEAR SLIPPED INTO DRIVE AND SMASHED INTO A WALL AND TOTALLY SHUT DOWN. THE JEEP HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER AS THE AUTOMATIC GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE AND THE JEEP WOULD NOT START. THE JEEP HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP FOR 3 DAYS AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE JEEP.

TAKATA RECALL - I HAVE OWNED THE JEEP NEW SINCE MARCH 2010. NOVEMBER 2010 I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT THAT DID APPROXIMATELY $16,000 WORK ON DAMAGES. THE ACCIDENT WAS ON THE LEFT FRONT CORNER AND DID ENOUGH DAMAGE TO SNAP THE FRONT AXEL AND BEND THE FRAME. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING THE ACCIDENT. Track bar bracket broke off at 65 mph due to violent steering death wobble. I had no steering when track bar bracket welds broke off axle. No Sterring. Yes, independent. Had to have vehicle toed on flatbed. Yes, Insurance said they will not cover catastrophic failure of the steering or the damage. No warnings other than dramatic front-end vibration that broke off the metal bracket.
THIS VEHICLE HAD TWO FRONT END ACCIDENTS IN 6 MONTHS AND NEITHER TIME THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. FIRST ACCIDENT INVOLVED WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT ANOTHER VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH THE LEFT FRONT BUMPER, DAMAGE TO FRONT BUMPER $1000.00. SECOND ACCIDENT WAS MUCH MORE SERIOUS, THE VEHICLE WAS FORCED OFF THE ROAD AT 40 MPH AND INTO A DIRECT HEAD ON ACCIDENT WITH A TELEPHONE POLE. $15,000 DAMAGE AND BENT FRAME CARRIAGE MOTOR SUPPORT AND FRONT DRIVE AXLE. AGAIN NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT.
IN APRIL 2011, MY JEEP WENT IN FOR SERVICE AT HERB CHAMBERS. THERE WERE SAFETY RECALLS THAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED AND I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN TO THE SERVICE ASSOCIATE ABOUT MY PARKING BRAKE BEING LOOSE AND NOT PROPERLY ADJUSTED. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE MAY ROLL AWAY INTO THE ROAD AND CAUSE HARM TO OTHERS. FURTHERMORE, IF I WERE TO BE IN THE VEHICLE THEN I MAY BECOME TRAPPED WITH IT ROLLING IN TO TRAFFIC.
