Known issues on the 2008 Beetle. Three recalls sit on the federal record for the 2008 Beetle. Certain 2008 Beetle vehicles with the inline-five could have a power steering hose clamp rubbing on an underhood fuel line, risking a leak and fire. Another recalled certain special-edition Triple White 2008 Beetle vehicles, 510 of them, because the roof spoiler may have been bonded to the rear glass with the wrong adhesive and could come loose. A third involved certain cars altered during an internal evaluation period that may not comply with applicable regulations, and Volkswagen repurchased them. Of 60 complaints, 20 concern the electrical system; 8 reported a fire and 3 a crash. Fuel system and body procedures and electrical wiring diagrams apply.
