Known issues on the 2008 Frontier. Six recalls are on federal record for this model year. Front and rear lower control link collars can contain welds produced by an improper welding process, and a separated weld degrades handling and can lead to a crash. Molded fuel tank shells can deform so the sender float arm contacts an embossment in the tank, causing the gauge to read roughly a quarter tank when the tank is actually empty and risking a stall in traffic. The tire placard lists an incorrect vehicle capacity weight, out of compliance with federal tire selection standards. Road salt and snow-water can enter the front crash zone sensor housing, which can prevent the driver and passenger front air bags from deploying in a crash. A Garmin nuvi 750 navigation unit fitted to some trucks has batteries that can overheat, posing a fire risk. And the resin emblem on the driver's air bag cover can crack and detach, becoming a projectile during deployment. No complaints or technical service bulletins are logged for the year. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
Whether you're chasing a false low-fuel reading or inspecting the front lower control links, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and correct spec for your specific 2008 Frontier.
