Known issues on the 2008 Accent. One recall is on federal record for this model year, and it concerns the brake light switch: failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking, or inability to disengage the cruise control. The campaign covered 2006-2009 Accents along with other Hyundai models of the period, among them the Azera, Sonata, Santa Fe, Tucson, Elantra and Elantra Touring. Owners have filed 135 complaints for the year and Hyundai has issued 32 technical service bulletins. The factory procedures for diagnosing and repairing those faults are here.
From testing a stop lamp circuit that will not light to a cruise control fault or routine service on the 1.6L, it keeps you on Hyundai's own procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2008 Accent.

Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, when the ignition is in the 'ON' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of Park without first applying the brake. This may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the stop lamp switch, free of charge. The safety recall began on April 22, 2013. Owners may contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's recall campaign number is 110.

I HAVE HAD MY 2008 HYUNDAI FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW, AND I LOVE IT, BUT THE PLASTIC PIECES/SUN VISORS IN THE MODEL HAVE BROKEN OFF. I HAVE LOOKED FOR SOME ONLINE, AND THEY HAVE RIDICULOUS PRICES. IT SEEMS TO BE A LARGE PROBLEM WITH HYUNDAI, AND EVENTUALLY SOMEONE'S LIFE/LIVES WILL BE ENDANGER, BECAUSE THE VISIBILITY ISN'T GREAT. I HAVE TRIED TO FIX THEM BUT, THEY BOTH DRIVER/PASSENGER NEED TO BE REPLACED. I CHECKED OUT REVIEWS ONLINE, AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED OF THE VISORS JUST BREAKING OFF
