This factory service and repair manual for the 2006 Ford E-150 covers four trims, Base, Chateau, XL and XLT, across the three-door standard passenger van and the two-door standard cargo van. Both gasoline V8s are included: the 4.6L overhead-cam engine of 281 cubic inches and the 5.4L overhead-cam engine of 330 cubic inches, each naturally aspirated. Procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics follow the vehicle system by system rather than trim by trim, so one section serves every version of the van.

Known issues on the 2006 E-150. Eight recalls appear on the federal record, and most of them trace to wheelchair lifts added by van converters, where platform mountings, side plates or a lift control cable could fail. One is a Ford campaign on replacement fuel tanks with an unsealed sensor hole that could leak. Owners have filed 17 complaints with NHTSA, led by the power train, vehicle speed control and the electrical system. Transmission, speed control and wiring all have their own diagrams, torque values and diagnostic routines in this manual.
