This factory service and repair manual for the 2005 Ford E-150 documents a van sold in two shapes, a three-door standard passenger van and a two-door standard cargo van, and in two trim levels, Base and XL. Under the hood sit two naturally aspirated gasoline V8s: the 281-cubic-inch 4.6L overhead-cam unit and the 330-cubic-inch 5.4L overhead-cam unit. Specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams, diagnostics and step-by-step procedures are grouped by system, which keeps engine work, chassis work and body work in their own sections.

Known issues on the 2005 E-150. Four recalls are on federal record for the 2005 van. Two of them involve fuel: replacement tanks with an extra sensor hole that might not be sealed, and aftermarket fuel filters whose quick connectors could pull apart, both of which risk a leak near an ignition source. The other two cover wheelchair lifts on converted vans. Owners have filed 26 complaints with NHTSA, split evenly across service brakes, engine and engine cooling, and the fuel system. Those three areas have their own procedures, specifications and diagnostics here.
