Known issues on the 2006 A8 Quattro. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year, both involving the passenger frontal air bag. The first covers a wiring harness condition that could deactivate the passenger side frontal air bag even when it should stay active, though the air bag warning light and "passenger air bag off" telltale would still illuminate correctly, meaning the air bag simply would not deploy in a frontal crash. The second covers a low battery voltage condition that could cause the air bag control unit to improperly set a fault code, deactivating the passenger frontal air bag and, again, causing it not to deploy in a crash. Owners have filed 6 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged.
