This factory service and repair manual for the 2005 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 belongs to the LS and LT trims of the four-door sport utility, and it accounts for both gasoline V8s of that year, the 364-cubic-inch 6.0L and the 496-cubic-inch 8.1L, each overhead-valve and naturally aspirated. Everything downstream of the engine is common ground between them, so the transmission, transfer case, axle, brake, steering and body wiring sections read straight through, and only the engine chapters split by displacement where the specifications require it.

Known issues on the 2005 Suburban 2500. Seven recalls are on the federal record for this year. One is as direct as a brake fault gets: a missing pushrod retainer lets the booster pushrod come off the brake pedal, and the pedal stops braking the truck. Another has the shift lever position indicator failing to light, so a driver can select a gear he did not intend and the vehicle moves the wrong way. A third involves a fuel rail damper clip on the 8.1L that fractures and lets fuel escape. Of 229 complaints, 81 name the electrical system, 29 the brakes and 24 the power train.
