2001 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2001 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 has two engines to keep straight rather than one: the naturally aspirated 6.0L overhead-valve V8 of 364 cubic inches, and the larger 8.1L overhead-valve V8 of 496 cubic inches, also naturally aspirated and also on gasoline. The body is a single four-door sport utility, offered as Base, LS or LT. Where the two engines share a system the text covers them together, and where fuel, ignition and cooling figures diverge, the specifications and torque values are called out by displacement.

Known issues on the 2001 Suburban 2500. Eight recalls stand on the federal record for this year. In one, wiring connectors in the fuel pump module overheat until the pump fuse blows, leaving the engine to stall or refuse to restart. In another, the crankshaft position sensor on the 8.1L V8 works intermittently or quits altogether, so the engine runs rough and can shut down. A third has the antilock system cycling when it is not wanted, stretching low-speed stopping distances. Owners logged 577 complaints, led by the service brakes at 182, the fuel system at 70 and the parking brake at 45.
