This factory service and repair manual for the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 drops to two trims, LS and LT, while keeping both gasoline V8s: a naturally aspirated 6.0L of 364 cubic inches and a naturally aspirated 8.1L of 496 cubic inches, each with overhead valves. Known issues on the 2002 Suburban 2500. Four recalls appear on the federal record for this year. One arrives through the parts counter: replacement fuel filters that seal poorly at the connection and can weep fuel where an ignition source waits. Another has the antilock brakes activating unbidden, which lengthens low-speed stops. A third covers aftermarket running-board courtesy lights whose harness overheats after soaking in moisture and road salt, melting the board or starting a fire. Complaints reach 456, with 170 on the service brakes, 46 on the engine and its cooling and 32 on the steering, all covered here.
