This factory service and repair manual for the 2004 GMC Jimmy covers the SLS trim in both sport utility bodies, the 4-door and the 2-door, all of them powered by the naturally aspirated 4.3L overhead-valve V6 on gasoline. A one-engine, one-trim year keeps the book tightly focused, and the coverage runs through engine mechanical work, fuel and cooling, transmission and axle overhaul, steering and suspension, the brake system, heating and air conditioning, the electrical system and body repair, with procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics throughout.

Known issues on the 2004 Jimmy. The year's one recall is about paperwork on the truck rather than parts in it: incorrect wording appears on one of the air bag warning labels, which fails the federal occupant crash protection requirement. Two owner complaints are logged with NHTSA, one on the service brakes and one on steering. Both of those systems are documented at length in this manual, with brake hydraulic and antilock procedures, steering gear and linkage service, the diagnostic charts for each and the torque values that apply to their fasteners.
