Known issues on the 2004 SRX. Seven recalls are on federal record for this model year. Excess weight on the key ring can cause the ignition to slip out of the run position, which can keep the air bags from deploying in a crash. A transmission shift-lever defect can let the lever move out of Park without the brake pedal depressed, or move out of Park with the ignition off, allowing the vehicle to roll away unattended. A weak accelerator pedal return spring can keep the throttle from returning to idle in extreme cold, requiring more brake force and distance to stop. A separate electrical fault in the sensing and diagnostic module can trigger the driver's frontal or roof side-impact air bag to deploy simply from turning the key to "on." The all-wheel-drive antilock brake system can briefly isolate the driver from the brakes for up to 1.25 seconds, lengthening stopping distance. Front bucket seat anchor tabs that are not fully engaged in the floor pan can let a seat pivot rearward in a crash. And lower control arm ball stud washers made of the wrong material can fracture, letting the control arm separate from the steering knuckle and the wheel drag or tilt outward.
