Known issues on the 2003 Cayenne. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the rear and front-passenger seat belt retractors: the automatic locking mode used for child restraint installation could deactivate with certain child seats, so in a crash the restraint may not stay properly secured, raising the risk of injury or death to that occupant. The second covers the low-beam headlights: the caps over the horizontal adjustment screws could be missing, allowing the headlights to be improperly adjusted, which can keep them from illuminating the road properly or cause glare to oncoming drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. Owners have filed 2 complaints for the year and no technical service bulletins are logged.
