This factory service and repair manual for the 2003 GMC Savana 2500 arrives with the engine bay reworked. The 6.0L V8, offered on gasoline or CNG, heads a list that runs on through 5.3L and 4.8L V8s to the 4.3L V6, every one of them naturally aspirated with overhead valves, and no diesel appears on this year's list at all. Known issues on the 2003 Savana 2500. The federal record for the 2003 van runs to eight recalls. Corrosion of the fuel filler pipe on vans used in road-salt states leads the list, because it can let fuel leak while the tank is being filled. Two entries concern steering fasteners, a pitman arm nut and a tie rod end nut that may not have been tightened enough, either of which can separate and take control of the van with it. Another involves front and rear seat belt buckles that will not latch or will not release. The 36 owner complaints track the brakes, engine cooling and fuel system.
