2000 Mazda Protege Service and Repair Manual
Fitment on this one is exact: the 2000 Mazda Protege factory service and repair manual is tied to this model year and to the four-cylinder engines and sedan trims Mazda actually built it with, so the clearances, torque figures and procedure sequences it carries are the ones Mazda issued for this car rather than a value carried over from a neighboring year.

Known issues on the 2000 Protege. Three recalls sit on federal record for this model year. One covers the hydraulic service brake hoses and lines: some left side rear brake hoses were damaged during assembly and brake fluid leakage could occur, which would degrade brake performance and increase the risk of a crash. The other two are exterior lighting recalls on aftermarket replacement lamps covering this vehicle. In one, SaberSport combination corner and bumper lamp assemblies do not contain the required amber side reflectors, and the decreased lighting visibility may result in a vehicle crash. In the other, certain Pro-A Motors corner lamps, turn signals and headlights are likewise not equipped with amber side reflectors, leaving the vehicle poorly illuminated and possibly resulting in a vehicle crash without warning. Owners have filed 104 complaints for the year. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From replacing and bleeding a leaking left rear brake hose to sorting out an exterior lighting fault or running a routine interval on the 1.8L, it keeps you on Mazda's own procedure and the correct figure for your 2000 Protege.
