1999 GMC C3500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1999 GMC C3500 covers a range that runs from a two-door cab and chassis to a four-door crew cab pickup, five configurations in all, in Sierra SL, Sierra SLE or Sierra SLT trim. Three engines serve them: the turbocharged 6.5L diesel V8, the 7.4L gasoline V8, and the 5.7L V8 arranged for compressed natural gas or gasoline. The manual separates what differs between those engines and treats the shared chassis, body and electrical systems once, with procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics.

Known issues on the 1999 C3500. Two owner complaints are on the NHTSA record for this model year, one against the service brakes and one against the tires. Both belong to the same corner of the truck, and both are worth taking seriously on a chassis meant to carry weight. The manual documents the brake hydraulics, friction hardware, parking brake and their adjustment and bleeding procedures, along with wheel and hub service, wear limits, fastener torque values and the diagnostic routines used to trace a pull, a noise or a soft pedal.
