1998 GMC C2500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1998 GMC C2500 documents four engines, the 5.0L V8, the 7.4L V8, the turbocharged 6.5L diesel V8 and a 5.7L V8 set up for compressed natural gas or gasoline, in a truck sold as a standard cab pickup, an extended cab pickup or a cab and chassis. Sierra SL, Sierra SLE and Sierra SLT are the trims. Because the engines differ in fuel, induction and cooling needs, their specifications, clearances and torque values are given individually rather than as a range.

Known issues on the 1998 C2500. This model year is clean at NHTSA, which lists neither a recall nor an owner complaint against it. That leaves the manual to do the work it was written for, across four engines with three different fuel arrangements between them, plus the transmission and axles, the brakes, steering and suspension, heating and air conditioning, body and interior hardware and the full electrical system. Procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are given for each of those systems.
