1983 GMC C2500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1983 GMC C2500 documents six engines in a truck sold three ways: as a four-door crew cab pickup, a two-door standard cab pickup or a two-door cab and chassis. Two inline-sixes, the 4.1L and the 4.8L, sit at the bottom of the range; the 5.0L, 5.7L and 7.4L V8s cover the gasoline middle and top; and the 6.2L V8 is the diesel. Trims are Base, High Sierra and Sierra Classic, and every engine is overhead-valve and naturally aspirated.

Known issues on the 1983 C2500. For this model year the federal record stays clean, with no recall campaigns and no owner complaints at NHTSA. The manual is left to cover the truck as delivered, and with six engines that is a substantial job on its own: valve, timing, fueling and cooling specifications for each of them, plus the transmission, axle, brake, steering and suspension procedures shared across the range, and the wiring diagrams and diagnostic charts for the electrical system.
