1998 Chevrolet P30 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1998 Chevrolet P30 carries six engines: a 4.1L inline-six of 250 cubic inches, a 4.3L V6, gasoline V8s of 5.7 and 7.4 liters, and the 6.5L diesel V8 in both turbocharged and naturally aspirated form. They go into a plain chassis, a stripped motorhome chassis or a two-door cab and chassis, in Base or Base Stripped trim. With that many powertrains in one book, specifications, torque values and diagnostic routines are kept engine by engine.

Known issues on the 1998 P30. Two recalls are on the federal record for this year, both replacement filters that seal poorly at their connections — one releasing engine oil, one leaking fuel — with fire the consequence in each case. Owners have logged nine complaints, four on the parking brake, three on the service brakes and one on engine cooling. That puts the emphasis on the braking and cooling chapters: shoe and lining specifications, hydraulic bleeding, parking brake cable adjustment, radiator and thermostat testing, and the torque values that go with each.
